Overview

Jessella Ltd (Building Envelope Specialist) continue to make progress towards completing the remediation works at GWQ.

Jessella and Stanmore have individual contracts with the landlords of Great West Quarter, namely Barratt London, A2Dominion and Notting Hill Genesis.

All parties fully appreciate that the works have involved a certain amount of inconvenience and disruption for residents, for which they are extremely sorry. These works will not only bring many of the buildings in Great West Quarter up to the latest fire safety standards but exceed the current requirements.

During the initial stages of the works a design issue was identified by Jessella Ltd, in several blocks. External experts were consulted, Jessella are currently awaiting their completed report and recommendations.

Unfortunately, due to the national remediations work across the country, the consultants are in very high demand. The required information from the external experts has taken longer than initially anticipated. The Great West Quarter, like many aspects of life has had to negotiate COVID -19 precautions and protocols, which has meant that a reduced labour force were available to work at the required pace.

Jessella Ltd remain committed to absorbing time delays, where possible and are endeavouring to reduce the effects on residents.

The main elements to the remediation project at Great West Quarter are;

  • Replacing all cladding with a similar looking non-combustible material
  • Creating new fire breaks around windows and at floor level
  • Removing ground floor cladding, installing new fire breaks and installing new cladding
  • Removing brown coloured brick slips, installing new fire breaks and brick slips
Sequence

All scaffolding will be alarmed for your peace of mind. Alongside this, Great West Quarter has security, who regularly patrol the area and will be doing scaffold checks to ensure no unauthorised persons climb the scaffolding. This project is due to be completed in 2023.

The teams working on the cladding remediation in Great West Quarter are;

  • Barratt London – Freeholder and landlord
  • A2Dominion – Landlord
  • Notting Hill Genesis – Landlord
  • Jessella Ltd – Contractor (blocks 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 16, 17, 18)
  • Stanmore Ltd – Contractor (blocks 13, 14, 15)
  • NewmanFrancis Ltd – Resident liaison service
