Cambridge Road Estate Regeneration

About the project

Owned and managed by Kingston Council, the Cambridge Road estate was built during the late 1960’s and includes a mix of low rise, high rise apartments and houses.  The estate is in need of updating and the council has committed to improving the estate for current and future residents.

In 2020 with an 86% turnout and 73% ‘Yes’ vote to regenerate the entire estate, the community were in full support of the regeneration plans put forward by the council. Planning permission was granted for those plans in 2021 with the first phase of the build starting in 2022 and the first homes being ready to move into towards the end of 2024.

The regeneration, which will be delivered in partnership with Countryside Partnerships  and will create 2,170 new homes, including 871 social rent properties once all 5 phases are completed. The new buildings will also include amenities such as a community centre, green streets, and outdoor spaces which will contribute to creating a vibrant and cohesive neighbourhood.

You can find more information about the regeneration plans, key contacts and the offer to residents affected by the regeneration on the CRE website here

We’re happy to be working in partnership with the regeneration team at Kingston Council to support the local community as they are affected by changes across their estate.

Our involvement

NewmanFrancis’ role as the Independent Tenant and Homeowner Advice (ITHA), will be to support any residents who may have questions such as their tenure rights, the rehousing process, the landlord offer or how the process might affect them.

Our service provides impartial advice and advocacy support to make sure that tenants and leaseholders understand their rights and options and ensure their views and concerns are fed back to the council.

You can contact us via our freephone number, via a dedicated email or an online contact form, all the details of which are in the ‘Contact Us’ menu below.

We will be holding monthly face to face drop-ins for any resident on the estate to access. These will be held on the last Thursday of every month, at Archway, 11 Daffodil Walk, KT1 3LJ. 4pm to 6pm. from 27th June 2024.

We will also be attending the community boards as an independent member of the board to offer support and advice. More on what Community Boards, their role on the CRE, and how you can become a member, can be viewed on the CRE website.
