Hermitage Road

Hermitage Road is in north Croydon, SE19 3QN. The proposed site is the land adjacent to Hermitage Road and Virgo Fidelis Convent School. Click here to see a map of the site area.

The current use of this site is hard-standing parking.

The proposed buildings are approximately 8 residential units, a mixture of flats and houses.

We came door knocking on Wednesday 8th June and held an event on Tuesday 26th July  to give you an opportunity to give your views and find out more about the proposed development on this site. If you were not able to attend, you can see the architect’s proposed plans that were shown at the event and the general feedback and suggestions from the consultation below.

Key Points Raised

From responses in the survey:

  • 100% are unsupportive of the proposal
  • Stress on parking
  • Height, mass, overlooking and encroachment of proposed dwellings
  • Neighbouring development currently causing damage and disruption to properties
  • Increased road congestion due to increased traffic

Key Concerns

  • New homes could make the area less secure.
  • Any proposed plans would exacerbate the current development work already taking place
  • Residents like the quietness of the cul-de-sac and there are concerns this development will change the character of the area
  • There are too many proporties proposed
  • How the buildings will look aesthetically
  • The affect on property value
  • Concerns of how the proposed development will  impact elderly people who are directly opposite the proposed development.

Suggestions 

  • Provide more greenery
  • Provide more facilities children to play
  • Resident’s would like to see the boundary fence improved and fixed at the end of Hermitage Road
  • When formal planning consultation goes ahead, every resident should be written to directly in addition to advertising on notices on lampposts.
  • Post event residents will start an action group to oppose the development proposals
