The Exchange, Croydon

About the Project

The Exchange is a residential building in the centre of Croydon, with 66 privately owned apartments and ground-floor retail units.

Originally a telephone exchange, the building was converted into apartments in 2008 and is now undergoing major remediation and building safety works. These include the removal of combustible materials and improvements to fire safety.

NewmanFrancis has been appointed to provide independent support and engagement for residents and leaseholders throughout the works.

Our Role

Independent Resident & Leaseholder Support

NewmanFrancis is an independent community engagement company, separate from Urbanise Construction and the contractors carrying out the works.

Our role is to provide an independent point of contact for residents and leaseholders, giving you the opportunity to share your views, ask questions and raise concerns. We will communicate relevant feedback to the project team and help ensure residents have access to clear, accessible information and independent support throughout the works.

The Building Safety Works

The works are focused on improving the safety of the building. This includes replacing combustible materials with safer, non-combustible materials and carrying out further fire safety improvements.

As the works have progressed, additional improvements have been required behind the existing façade. The project team is investigating and addressing these as part of the ongoing remediation programme.
