We held an event on Tuesday 28th June to give you another opportunity to give your views and find out more about the proposed development on this site. If you were not able to attend, you can see the architect’s proposed plans that were shown at the event and the general feedback and suggestions from the consultation below.

Key Points Raised

  • The garages are used by two people who filled in the survey
  • Overall the area is currently poorly used and the survey shows it is a site of ASB, fly-tipping and poor lighting.
  • People generally agreed that the garages couldn’t stay as they are although they didn’t necessarily want houses there instead
  • Of the 5 respondents of the survey, 2 were ‘Unsupportive’ and 3 were ‘Undecided’.

Key Concerns Raised

  • Parking in the area is very difficult, especially since double yellow lines were put on Chertsey Crescent recently. All residents were concerned about the extra pressure on parking that this would cause. It was repeated frequently that one space per house wouldn’t be enough because most families have at least two cars.
  • Concern about overlooking from the new homes, especially from the top floor. The 1-storey bungalow was much preferred to the 3-storey houses.
  • Concern about impact to local services, especially the Gps/health centre
  • Concern with the scale of development in Addington as a whole.
  • One man uses the garages for storing his 3 motorbikes, and he was happy for houses to go there only if his storage was re-provided.


  • Don’t build so many homes, 4 is too many.
  • Need more parking in the area.
  • Build a new green space with parking nearby instead
  • If you are going to build, build 1-storey properties instead.
