Kingsdown Avenue, Montpelier Road, Purley, is in south Croydon, CR2 6QL.

We held an event on Wednesday 6th July and Thursday 28th July to give you an opportunity to give your views and find out more about the proposed development on this site. If you were not able to attend, you can see the architect’s proposed plans that were shown at the event and the general feedback and suggestions from the consultation below.

Following the above events, feedback from residents will be used to inform the proposed development. The proposal will be available on our website and you will have a further opportunity to comment on the final plans.

If this proposal goes forward it will require Brick by Brick to submit a formal planning application requesting planning consent from the Council’s Planning Department. The Council will publicise planning applications by displaying Site Notices on street furniture (on lamp posts) on roads close to the proposed site. The notice will provide information on how you can submit further comments on the proposed development (see link to the Council’s Planning Department for more information )

 Key Points Raised

  • The green spaces are highly valued by residents
  • There is a sense of community
  • Parking is a significant issue

Key Concerns Raised

  • Concern about loss of views, increased density and additional parking stress
  • Loss of green open space (both in terms of a space for events but also for the views they afford). The slope is well used by children.
  • Loss of trees
  • Potential impact on value of existing homes. Concern about how the proposals would impact on those currently trying to sell
  • Access to and from the area is impacted by the parking and residents think the new homes would make this worse
  • Concern about the impact of construction
  • Garages – mixed views, some saw it as an eyesore, others saw it as an important events.
  • The Green is an important and valued community asset.
  • (corner block proposed) – concern about any impact of building on traffic around corner. Some said it was a very dangerous bend and building on it would make it less safe


  • Traffic calming measures
  • Less parking (by commuters, school workers etc)
