The proposed new homes are a mixture of 20 houses and flats.

We held an event on Tuesday 5th July to give you an opportunity to give your views and find out more about the proposed development on this site. If you were not able to attend, you can see the architect’s proposed plans that were shown at the event and the general feedback and suggestions from the consultation below.

 Key Points Raised

  • Many residents complained of damp and mould in their properties.
  • The estate play and grassed areas are well used by children and adults.
  • The nearest park was reported as being a long way away.
  • Some residents said that there was a strong sense of community.  A number of residents cited anti-social behavior:
    • Speeding cars, with the estate road used as a rat run
    • Drug taking
    • Street drinking
    • Noise
  • Drains were said to already be at capacity and regularly needed unblocking.
  • A resident said that all garages are in use either for parking or storage or both.
  • Parking is currently a problem for some residents, exacerbated when contractors are on site as they have been recently.
  • Allocations was mentioned by three residents, one is overcrowded and two wish to downsize.  All cited a lack of response from the Council.

Key Concerns Raised

  • There was a general concern that the existing homes should be brought up to standard before new homes built for others.
  • A few residents felt that the new build could be used to decant existing residents to and new blocks (possibly a little higher) could replace existing blocks.
  • There was general concern about losing mature trees and residents were reassured by the architects that the lime tree would be retained.
  • There was a view that private sales would not be successful on the estate.
  • There was concern about overlooking from the residents of Boswell Cottage
  • A number of residents said that the area was already over developed.


  • Residents would welcome more play areas on the estate but in areas where the children could be supervised or overlooked.
