Key Concerns Raised

Some support for the proposals as the development would improve current problems such as fly tipping, poor lighting, security, and anti-social behavior. However, the key concerns were:

  • Height of the new homes
  • Pressure on parking
  • Parking permit scheme may be introduced with potential costs for residents
  • Anti-social behaviour in the area
  • Space on Academy Gardens will become even more limited if proposals go ahead
  • Lack of play spaces and open space for children
  • Pressure on local services – GP and pharmacy etc
  • Possible rises in rents
  • Problems with existing estate need to be resolved first before any new development is undertaken

  • Parking for carers for vulnerable residents
  • Provision will need to be made for extra vehicles as a result of the new properties
  • Suggestion that “discrete” recycling area could be included as part of development
  • Suggestion that new green spaces should be protected from dog walkers as well as new play facilities
  • Support for vulnerable residents to be made clear at the start of any plans
  • Provision of storage for mobility scooters as well as charging points
